定義：潮霉素B由吸水鏈霉菌（Streptomyces hygroscopicus）產(chǎn)生的一種氨基糖苷類抗生素，通過抑制蛋白質(zhì)合成能殺死細(xì)菌、真菌和高等真核細(xì)胞，用于篩選和保持轉(zhuǎn)化有潮霉素抗性基因的原核和真核細(xì)胞。 

用途：

1）潮霉素B是氨基糖苷類抗生素，它可以通過抑制蛋白質(zhì)合成殺死細(xì)菌、真菌和高級真核細(xì)胞。 　　

2）潮霉素B通過干擾移位、促進80S核糖體的誤譯來抑制蛋白質(zhì)合成。

3）哺乳動物細(xì)胞選擇的有效濃度通常是50 μg/ml--1 mg/ml之間；對于植物細(xì)胞，其有效濃度是20–200 μg/ml；對于細(xì)菌，有效濃度是20–200μg/ml；對于真菌，有效濃度是200μg–1 mg/ml。

4）轉(zhuǎn)染中用的特定抗生素。

5）潮霉素B磷酸轉(zhuǎn)移酶滅活潮霉素B。

6）攜帶hph基因轉(zhuǎn)染的細(xì)胞對潮霉素有抗性。
